Abstract

In the last two decades, fishes of the order Zeiformes in Chile have undergone major changes in their taxonomic categories and in the record of new species. The literature on the species of this order is dispersed, hindering the description and evaluation of vulnerability of its populations. In order to contribute to its identification, an updated and illustrated taxonomic key for this group (whose habitats bentho and bathypelagic are distributed in the water column at depths range between 30-1500 m), is presented.
